Master Tung Kai Ying was our guide during the tour and shared his family reunion experience with us and the rediscovery of the place he once lived in and grew up in as a child. This was the first time ever that western tourists walked along the Renxian village streets. The local inhabitants greeted us warmly, our presence arousing their curiosity in a quiet and almost silent atmosphere ; which was both calm and cheerful. Throngs of children followed us everywhere and their laughter and colorful presence created a magical link with our group, enabling us to sense what the past of this village must have been like.
We all stayed in the town of Xingtai which is several kilometers from there. Xingtai was to be the venue for our grand Tai Chi celebration and colorful banners, flags, music and speeches as well as the inaugural lion dance made a very strong impression. Thousands of spectators flocked to the huge city square and did us the great honor of attending the Tung school of Tai Chi demonstration. We had been dreaming of this event and getting ready for it many months prior, but little did we know how imposing the celebration would be.
